Criticize by creating

Great artists steal, according to Picasso, so I’ll borrow a page from Mark Batterson and say how much I like the idea of becoming the solution to the problem. It’s so easy to sit around and gripe about what’s wrong in churches and then leave when it bugs you…the hard choice is getting off your duff and actually doing something about the issues. I tell you, I’d rather get kicked out of a church for being too active then just wander off mumbling under my breath about how stupid the whole thing is. Criticize by creating: get an idea together, find people who like it, and make it happen. Let other people be the critics — they can sit around and tell you it can’t be done while you’re in the midst of doing it. Note that I’m not saying it’s a good idea to cross authority or do things under the nose of leadership. I’m just saying that taking a proactive rather than reactive stance is so important and actually what many church leaders are wishing they could get!

Taking a few days off

I’ve been taking some time off the last few days, and though I return to work later this week, I’ll probably resume my normal blogging next week — although part-way through I’ll be heading up to Redding, CA for the JesusCulture conference once again. I’m sure that’ll probably grab the bulk of my attention, but I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.

No Speedlink Friday yesterday, for which I apologize profusely, but Shayne and I were hot ‘n’ heavy in the studio working on the finishing touches to our album master. And I’m stoked to tell you that it is DONE!!! Ahead of schedule, too. That’s a new one! Major release info coming very, very soon to a Web site near you, so stay tuned.

Not only is there a huge and growing revival exploding out of Lakeland, Florida, but MSNBC.com is reporting on it and giving it some fair and balanced coverage! And people are writing in the comments section saying how awesome this is! As they say in the Looney Tunes cartoons, now I’ve seen everything! *bang* … *thud*
