Besides catching up on work and getting some other projects done, I’ve been spending so much energy watching and pondering the political news coming out of Iowa and New Hampshire that I haven’t really given much thought to anything else. I promise I’ll refrain from turning this into another blog of talking points, although I do have a video to post shortly that gives some simple reasons why I’m a supporter of presidential candidate Mike Huckabee.
It’s so easy to get sucked into politics…analyzing every single word spoked on the campaign trail, every single eyebrow raised at a debate, comparing facts and who’s got ‘em right or wrong, taking a peak at the “other side” to see what they’re up to. The first political season I really got into due to my being of age and more interested in such matters was the presidential election of 2004. And boy was that a doozy! So far, it seems that this year people are a little more interested in a positive, uplifting message and moving on from the partisan bickering that has stopped anything productive from being accomplished, so my hopes are high for some great discussions of important issues as we move forward over the course of the year.
From a spiritual perspective, I think there is some real shaking and sifting going on in the atmosphere, and I have a feeling that there are going to be some major surprises in store for this country come November. The Spirit of God is moving over this land, and I don’t believe for an instant we are heading towards our twilight years or certain destruction. I agree with what many people are saying both at the podium and at the pulpit: our greatest days still lie before us.
