Happy New Year! The Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty-Eight, to be precise. Just think: this is the first day of a new year, something that only happens a handful of instances in our lifetimes. I remember what was going on a year ago very well — I was launching this blog! My first post on Finite Calls Infinite pretty much set the tone for the subsequent twelve months, and as 2008 bursts out of the gate running, I’m happy to say that my passion for blogging and for sharing what God has placed on my heart has not diminished.
Speaking of which, I just returned from our yearly prophetic powwow at Grace Fellowship, and we has such a wonderful time soaking in God’s presence and hearing what He would have to say to us in this new season. One such image that I got was of a layer of earth, a crust, that was covering a huge abyss. It was then pried open as if it were a lid, and new foundations of earth and rock came in underneath to fill up the void and seal up the abyss. If you know about how constructive zones work in plate tectonics, it was a similar idea.
The interpretation I got from that is that there are places in our lives and in our homes, businesses, churches, and schools that have been sealed over for a long time and have not been dealt with, but the darkness and the sin are still there underneath a thin layer of seemingly solid ground. But in this new season, God is standing ready to uncover these painful areas and fill them up anew with the foundations of His strength and provision. Get ready for new growth in the Spirit and new beginnings this year as we step into the fulfillment of everything God has for us in this place and time!
When I launched this blog in January 2007, I had only a vague idea of what I would talk about. I had only a vague idea of what I was supposed to do with my life. I had only a vague idea of the kind of journey I would be undertaking. Over the course of the year, however, God proved Himself faithful to me and showed me answers to many of the questions that I had, and understanding and clarity came forth out of the deeper awareness of the Person of Jesus whose very life force burns within me
I am so grateful for everything God has already done in my life, and I look forward to another stellar year with the hopeful expectation that many good things are coming my way!
