In contrast to the abysmal “Christian” response to the open letter from Muslim letters (you can find a link to it in the comments of a previous post), I was overjoyed to read this excellent rebuttal to the letter by the Barnabas Fund. In it, they educate Westerners on the finer points of Islamic outreach and how we must be very careful how we interpret any attempt by Muslims to reach a state of peace between our two religions. What we naively think they’re saying, versus what they actually are saying, can be quite different.
And of course the letter points out, in so many words, that our concept of God and the Muslim concept of God is totally incompatible, and therefore we do not share any theological common ground. Finally, somebody gets it! I hope more Christian groups who understand the real nature of the threat that Islam poses for the Christian world come forth to write such excellent rebuttals to a woeful letter.
