I am so happy and privileged to be able to welcome you to the brand new incarnation of Finite Calls Infinite. Thank you for joining me on this auspicious occasion!
When I started this blog back in January of this year (2007), I had a great deal of ideas of where it might go, but soon afterwards it began to drift into the category of casual hobby, and other aspects of my life took precedence. But over the past few months, I’ve been feeling a real burden and a calling to kickstart this blog once agan, based on the experiences and knowledge I’ve gained during these nine months. So, after a significant amount of preparation and effort, the fruits of my labor are now online for all to see.
What’s changed? Let me give you a rundown of some of the new features:
- Design: well, OK, so design isn’t a “feature” per se, but I think it’s nice to have a blog that I actually did some design work on (being a Web designer and all) rather than using a stock theme. I liked that old theme though, but this is much more to my liking.
- Better Content Discovery: I’ve implemented a few things to help maximize the usefulness of the content and aid in discovering old topics of interest. The first is the new Spotlight page which contains a growing list of posts since the inception of Finite Calls Infinite that I find interesting and hope you do as well. The second, which hasn’t quite gone live yet but will soon, is a robust tagging system which will allow you to see a list of posts which are relevant to the current post you’re reading and search through the archives for other posts tagged with a certain keyword. Finally, a few times a month I’ll be specifically highlighting earlier posts which deserve attention, and occasionally I will follow up on some of the previous discussions we’ve enjoyed.
- Blog Series and Guest Posts: Two of the coolest features that my favorite blogs have exhibited are writing a series of posts on a single topic which may last up to several weeks and publishing posts by guest bloggers. I have several series planned in advanced for October, November, and December of this year which I’m very excited about, and I’ve begun to talk with a few bloggers I admire about their guesting on this blog from time to time. I love having different perspectives and voices interacting with each other, and I hope it brings some lively conversation to Finite Calls Infinite.
- Edit Comments: I can hear your collective sigh of relief when I mention that you can now edit your comments for a certain span of time after posting them if you make a mistake. Enjoy!
There are also some new pages you can check out which are accessible from the header or the footer, and a good deal of rearranging of content has gone on and will continue to go on as I make further refinements. In the meantime, please spending some time reading and poking around and generally having a rollickin’ good time.
Blessings on you and enjoy the weekend!

It’s a great new theme, but where can I find your music?
