It’s time to stop being intimidated

I want to share something with you that you already know (if you’re a Christian), I already know, and everyone who’s really a Christian knows — yet we all seem to forget more often than not.

If you’re like me, you find yourself easily intimidated by great preachers, evangelists, healers, people gifted in the prophetic and words of knowledge, etc. Think of someone who intimidates you. Maybe for you it’s someone legendary, like Billy Graham. Or maybe it’s your local youth pastor. Maybe it’s a guy on TV talking about a missions trip to the deepest, darkest corner of Africa. I can think of a few well-known pastors and revivalist preachers right off the bat. Whoever it is, anytime you find yourself thinking something like “I could never do that” or “I wish I could do things like that…maybe some day…” or “How come I never feel like that would work for me?” or “Why doesn’t God speak to me/rest in me/reveal things to me like He does to them?” or “Are they just specially gifted and I’m not?” or…you get the idea — anytime something like that comes into your head, simply tell yourself this:

The same Holy Spirit that is working in them to accomplish everything they’re doing and talking about is working in me, right here, right now.

That’s right — there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that is special about them or their walk with God that is unavailable to you. God’s Spirit is living today, and if you’re a Christian, He’s living inside of you already. All you need to do is step out in faith and obedience. It’s OK to start small. Maybe you’ll only share the love of Jesus with one person this month. God doesn’t view you as any less important than the guy leading 30,000 souls to the Lord in a mass crusade. God isn’t in the numbers game. He doesn’t have “degrees” of value. Every single person is valuable for who they are in Christ. And everyone is unique and has their own special purpose in God’s infinite plan.

It’s time to stop being intimidated. Believe with all your heart, soul, and mind that Jesus is always with you wherever you go, as He promised, and you will soon be walking forth in power and boldness in ways you never could have imagined!
