Can we take a moment to reflect on the significance of these latest world events? (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, ooo boy. Google it.)
Things are looking mighty bleak in that part of the world right now. With the Iranian people subjected to humiliation and hardship due to harsh autocratic rule and international isolation, the surrounding countries embroiled in war and strife, our own United States government gridlocked in disagreement and bickering, we could really stand to benefit from some heavy-duty intercessory prayer right now.
Oh Lord, be with these British marines as they try to survive under the thumb of a dangerous enemy. Be with the men and women fighting in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East as they try to accomplish their missions and get back home in one piece. Be with our government and the wider international community as they grapple with incredibly difficult and volatile situations. God, we cry out for revival and an understanding of the freedom and grace to be found in Christ Jesus all around the world. Bless the Christian communities in the Middle East who have the potential to be a catalyst for peace. Increase your favor on your people as they are harassed and persecuted for their faith. Lord, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem and of Israel, the home of your covenant people.
Lord, we know that war and darkness will not be gone from among us in this age, but we’re not going to sit by and allow the world to descend into depravity on our watch. We are going to stand for righteousness’ sake and pray for Your Kingdom to come, Your Will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Come Holy Spirit, come! Be with your people during the end-time harvest and bring peace and healing to the lands of our forefathers in the faith. We pray for a greater glory, an outpouring of your spirit, miracles, signs, and wonders to cover the earth and show the nations that You Are God!
Let us pray together. Let us shout to the heavens with one accord! Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Messiah, the Savior, the Lamb of God, the Prince of Peace — O how we love you! We sing your praises in this hour of darkness. You are the king, and your purposes will be accomplished! No one can stay your hand when you choose to move. We humble ourselves before you and ask you to intervene in this crisis. We don’t want more war. If we must fight, we will fight, but we pray for the peacemakers to prevail.
Blessed Be Your Name, O Lord!
