I attended a conference for three nights last week and was gone over the weekend to a friend’s wedding, so I feel like I’ve been out of the loop. But I’m getting back into the swing of things now, and I have a lot of stuff that’s been bouncing around my brain that I’m excited about delving into and exploring further.
One topic that I find amazing to contemplate is the sovereignty of God. I promised recently that I’d begin a series of discussions regarding this, but I’m finding that it’s such a huge concept I’m not even sure where to begin. Perhaps the best place to start is the practicality of the Christian walk. We need to get back to a practical foundation for living like we’re Disciples of Jesus in the 21st Century. Astonishingly, not much has really changed in 2000 years despite what the powers that be will tell you. Love, sin, shame, guilt, freedom, redemption, wholeness, happiness, satisfaction, power, knowledge, and meaningful realization of dreams are all the same today as they were in the Garden of Eden after mankind fell. Things change, but the underlying fabric of things don’t. God is sovereign, and, despite the assertions of Nietzsche, God is in fact very much alive. For which I am eternally thankful!
How big and unfathomable is your God? How personal and intimate is your God? These are questions that lead not to answers but to more questions the more you delve into them. That’s what I love about God! But, being human, I’ll try to find answers anyway. I’ll let you know what I find….
